Disclaimer: Inclement weather can affect availability of some materials for delivery and pickup. Fill Dirt, Top Soil, and Soil Conditioners may be impossible to load if they are wet, or if the ground around them is wet. The same is true if the ground where the load is to be dropped off is wet or soft. Any recent wet weather will affect delivery of some materials. In the cold of winter, it may take a few days after a rain for some materials to dry enough for loading.
*Also, when picking up your load, damp or wet materials will be much heavier than when they are dry, making them too heavy for some light to mid-weight pickups to carry. Be aware of how moisture can impact the weight of some bulk materials.
We do our best to drop the load exactly where you need it to make your job as easy as possible. However, there are many factors that may limit where your load can be dumped. Overhead power lines or tree branches, uneven steep land, or soft/ damp ground are all possible issues. Loaded dump trucks are very heavy and will sink very quickly in soft or damp ground. Even if the ground is solid enough to drive a loaded pickup on, loaded dump truck tires will often break the top layer of wet grass and start to spin and fill up with mud. Once that happens, the truck is stuck and will have to be pulled out. For that reason, it is our policy that our trucks never leave solid surfaces to drop a load. However, the driver will be the final authority on whether they believe the load can be dropped safely in the chosen location or if another spot needs to be chosen.
*Please, be thinking of a second drop location in case your chosen drop spot has any unforeseen issues .
Disclaimer: If a load has to be returned due to a lack of an adequate dump location, a yard restocking fee may be charged to cover delivery costs.
If you are wanting to add rock to an existing driveway, there are two products that work well, depending on your situation.
1.) You could choose to use a limestone Crusher Run product. Crusher Run is a sized rock that still maintains all the powder and fines that are created in the crushing process. The powder and fines help fill in the areas between the sized rock adding bulk that helps to keep the larger rocks in place. Crusher Run can be helpful in areas where you need to raise the driveway up to help with drainage. Many people will use the larger 1 1/2" Crusher Run as a base and top it off with a layer of the finer 3/4" Crusher Run or a washed / clean rock product.
2.) You could choose a limestone "washed" or "clean" rock product like 57's or 67's. "Washed" means that all of the rock powder and fines created in the crushing process is washed away, leaving only the clean, washed, properly sized rock. This type of rock is easier to tailgate than rock that still has all the powder and fines in it and leaves a nicer finished look.
Note:If you are starting a new driveway over soft land or standing water, you may need to start with larger rock as a base first and then add a Crusher Run product on top of that to fill in the driveway.
